Lawsuit Against “Leadership” of One of Largest Churches in USA

With the Jeremiah Counsel Organization lawsuit against the Second Baptist Houston Young Group scheduled for trial at the end of July 2026, A. Bruce Clark PhD (whose doctorate was EARNED rather than honorary, and who began reading the “210-Book Holy Bible, Apocrypha & Ancient History Master Collection,” at the start of 2026 with his once again finishing it in under six months) compiled the below two screenshots, on June 26, 2026.

While Dr. Clark (whose works are often under the name “Alan Bruce Clark PhD” or “Christian Bruce Clark PhD”) had wanted to present many more screenshots, attempts to present over two in an article were ostensibly prevented by LinkedIn. Thus, to summarize some of the articles, Homer Edwin Young [who according to the repository housing his papers “received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi College in 1955 and the Bachelor of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1962 with honorary degrees by Furman University (1973), the Criswell Center for Biblical Studies (1984), and Southwest Baptist University (1985)”] allegedly arranged a “deceptive business meeting” with paid staff told to attend around Memorial Day 2023, when many Second Baptist members were on their vacations.

Apparently, a very small fraction of the more than 94,000 members knew about and attended the meeting where a vote was cast to institute “new bylaws” for the church, with 315 of the 317 in attendance, voting for the “new bylaws.” However, speciously those who voted for the “replacement bylaws” did so without realizing that the “new bylaws” would remove their own voting rights, since they had neither seen nor been able to discuss the “replacement bylaws” with others, before the vote.

As for the repercussions of the “new bylaws” they purportedly (1) stripped members of their voting rights, (2) granted Homer Edwin Young an extremely sweetheart retirement package, (3) allowed Homer Edwin Young to appoint his ostensibly nepotism favored Ben Young son as the next head pastor, and (4) gave Ben Young the control of more than a billion dollars in assets (which many individuals had made major sacrifices to make happen) with a lack of the types of accountability and transparency displayed by the early church in Acts. Thus, the Jeremiah Counsel (which a group of concerned Second Baptist members had formed in response to the Homer Edwin Young actions) sought that the “replacement bylaws” be presented to all of the Second Baptist members and that a monitored election be held (with all votes cast in secret) to determine if they should be “accepted.” However, with a statute of limitation concern they felt forced to file a lawsuit that, after a court-ordered-mediation failed to resolve, is scheduled for a jury trial, in a few weeks. Interestingly, the Young Group got the case placed into a Greg Abbott formed Business Court, against the Jeremiah Counsel’s professedly wanting it in a “normal civil court.”

As for Dr. Clark, he was actively involved at Second Baptist Houston. Yet, he (like many others) has switched his giving and attendance from Second Baptist (along with the organizations supporting the Young Group members at Second Baptiest Houston and the Fellowship Church in Grapevine “pastored” by another of Homer Edwin Young’s sons) to other entities. With these limited things said, the first screenshots is the following:
